About 1992 I decided to attempt to locate my grandmother's maternal grandfather's family based on her mother's recollections about her father which were passed down to my grandmother and mother. At that time I was living in Cincinnati, home to one of the country's better genealogical libraries. I quickly branched out to other lines and was "hooked." What began as a "hobby" became a passion. Fortunately it is one that works well with my "day job" as an academic librarian. I enjoy helping others make their own ancestral discoveries and researching for others as time permits. I speak to genealogical groups and librarians at the local, regional, and national levels on a variety of topics. A new topic or two is usually "under development."
