Thornton Genealogy Launched

Pictured: Eleven of the twelve children of Andrew Capus “Cape” and Berniece Estelle “Bennie” (Duke) Thornton.

About the Picture: My paternal grandfather was one of twelve children. When I was growing up the Thornton reunions were well-attended. They were often held at the “old home place” near Becker, Monroe County, Mississippi. Although the old house was torn down sometime in the 1960s, I vaguely remember it.

For some years, I blogged as Smoky Mountain Family Historian. I will likely continue to post to that blog for some time. Today, however, I launch my personal website. The website is a tool for promoting my work as a professional genealogist.

Posts to this site’s blog will be relevant to genealogy. Some posts will be promotional, discussing an upcoming event or resource. Some posts will discuss research methodology, evidence analysis, or using particular types of records. Some posts will reflect research done, primarily on my own family or collateral lines. Some posts may discuss useful tools for genealogists. Thanks for visiting!
